We are full-speed ahead into the LAST WEEKEND OF JULY! July always seems like real summer to me, by August the novelty of heat is over; and it just doesn’t feel like summer when it drops all the way below 20C at night! Despite my season imbalances, there is plenty of Summer left, and this weekend is going to be a doozie. First up – the main source of my mother’s current stress:
Explore the Shore is a celebrations of all things County Rd 50 – our home. The businesses that line one of THE BEST CYCLING ROADS IN ESSEX COUNTY throw open their doors and welcome somewhere north of 5000 visitors over the course of Saturday and Sunday. Although the Fruit Wagon is a longtime participant, this’ll be Farm Dog Cycles’ first year. NO TOURS this weekend, but come on out and try out our bikes in our bike rodeo. Traditionally, this weekend will also host the hottest days of the year – so we’ll have freezies for kids, large and small alike.
Sunday afternoon, when we’re just about done in, we’ll fortify ourselves with wine (and more freezies) and head into the bustling metropolis of Harrow for the first edition of the Heart of Harrow Art Walk. In my mind, I’m heading back to the night markets I fell in love with in Thailand – but with less mysterious street meat. Which, is a cryin’ shame. A year ago this week, I was in Bozeman, Montana partying on a Wednesday night at something called “Music on Main.’ Bozeman is slightly larger than Harrow, but similar in feel – and every Wednesday night all summer, they close down the Main St, put up a stage at the stoplights and jam all evening at a big street party. I fell in love, immediately, and we all said – why can’t we do something like this at home?! Luckily, we have local geniuses on the case. Can’t Wait!
If we’re still alive on Monday, we’ll talk then – and get ready for Farm Dog TT#2 NEXT TUESDAY, JULY 31 – we’ll sneak one in on the last day of the month!
